I Feel Good!!!

My oldest daughter has been bugging me for the last few months to please get the food storage done "so that I won't die when the next disaster happens!" So I told her to make it a Personal Progress project and get it done! She's busy taking inventory and making lists for our 72 hour kits, and today we went to the cannery and canned 400# of wheat, 150# beans, 75# sugar, 75# dry milk, and 2 cans of dried onions. So we're about 1/3 of the way there on our food storage (yes, we need 1200# of wheat for our bunch as well as 400# of other various grains...whew!). We also helped a friend do 800# of wheat. It took us about 4 hours so we went to Leatherby's Ice Cream Parlor afterward for a well deserved icecream sundae!

We'll make a couple of more trips and we should be stocked for a year.

We're gonna get it or die tryin'!

I think I would want to just skip strait to Leatherby's.

It overwhelms me to think of how much food storage our family of 7 needs. You are way ahead of me! Good thinking to make your food storage a personal progress project.

Someday you're going to have to visit us and we'll take that trip to Leatherby's Mac!

Maine mom, It did seem overwhelming at first, I thought we'd be coming home with a billion boxes of food, but it was only 20 cases! And they are small boxes too, fits 6 cans to a box. In fact, most of them will fit under my oldest boys bed.

My concern has always been what meals can I make with all that food. I am not creative when it comes to cooking. I am also horrible about meal planning altogether! That is where I guess I need to start working...on my cooking and meal planning so I can use food storage when that time comes. Congrats on your start towards being Prepared! Love and miss you all so much!!!!! Clarissa
