Don't give me any lip

My scripture study has been lacking a little as of late. My goal was to be through Isaiah by today, but I still have 7 chapters left, which was the same as I had a week ago...

I'm almost there though, considering there are 63 chapters and I am on 56. I can pat myself on the back can't I???

But still, I need to finish my goal.

So I was thinking that maybe if I posted something from Isaiah, it might get me motivated to start moving along again. I browsed through my notes and found this scripture:

"Then said I: Wo is unto me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips; and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips" (Isaiah 6:5).

These are the little ponderings I wrote about it:

What kind of example am I and what company do I keep and what kind of encouragement or discouragement do I give? How are my “lips”? Do I speak kindly? How are the “lips” of my children? What can I do to improve our “lips”?

Then I thought "Well that's kind of boring to post about, my readers need something more profound than that". So I started of thinking of lips and songs and naturally this came to mind:

You know, Larry can be very profound sometimes...

deeply profound. my kids all just gathered round to enjoy larry's song.
it's thanks to you that they saw the veggie tales movie last week. after you recommended it, i mentioned it to my dad-in-law and he called the next day to take them! so they got a great movie and i got a quiet afternoon.
i think there are a few ways that i have unclean lips at times--both things i am working on. one is gossiping (although i think i have gotten much better in the past several years) and the other is giving too much negative feedback to my kids (and sometimes saying dammit!)
thanks for inspiring me to do better.

WAAAA! I can't get any sound! :(

As for Isaiah...keep it up! There are blessings for studying, even if we don't always understand what we're trying to study! ;)

Well, after both my older boys said 'What the H-E-doulbe hockeystick!" on the same day, I realized what was wrong with my lips...

I had been using the wrong shade of lip gloss!

Good post, btw...

I love the post, and the video. We share a love of Veggietales, it seems!

Madame Blueberry makes me tear up EVERY time. It's because of the girl who's happy with her one piece of pie for her birthday.

Nothing says it better than Veggie Tales. I wish my kids still watched those videos! My favorite has always been the cheeseburger song. Mmm...burger. Quick, who does that remind you of?!

I hear my oldest son repeat a lot of what I say when he gets mad. But do I stop myself from using it again? It's a habit that he now wants to use when he grows up and can't get in trouble for it. Sometimes I really wish we could start over again with raising our kids.

Your Isaiah posts are always good for me. Good luck finishing your goal. You can do it!

My oldest says Veggie Tales scares him. He says, "You know your sister in Arkansas has a lot of them and they scared me..."

I cannot figure that one out for the life of me!

I'm at the airport and can't hear the video--too noisy. But I will listen to it later.

I am going to be in Isaiah in a week--I'm a little scared. Thanks for this post. It's great! I'm with Nancy--keep studying. There are blessings even when we don't understand everything we're reading.
